Recent BigCommerce Design Projects

Every project starts with a specific problem — outdated branding, a theme that’s become difficult to manage, a customer experience that isn’t converting the way it should. Here’s how I’ve helped a few recent clients, as a BigCommerce website designer handling everything from redesigns to new launches. View more projects in my BigCommerce portfolio.

Boat Cover Repair Advisor Website Design

MARINE SUPPLIES

Boat Cover Repair Advisor

Redesigned on a customized marketplace theme, replacing a custom Cornerstone theme the client couldn't edit herself

The client's previous custom Cornerstone theme had a hard-coded homepage, which meant she couldn't update it herself. I redesigned it on a stock theme she can fully manage with Page Builder, with reorganized categories and a redesigned homepage.

Bass Central Website Design

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

Bass Central

Theme redesign to better showcase inventory and brand partners

Their old theme couldn't surface BassCentral's large inventory on the homepage or give their brand partners real visibility. I moved them to a customized marketplace theme with more display flexibility — brands featured prominently on the homepage, with products organized and highlighted by category.

Payless Rugs Theme Customization

HOME DECOR

Payless Rugs

Replaced a hard-coded custom theme with a stable, manageable marketplace theme

Their custom theme was heavily hard-coded, making bugs difficult to track down and fixes unpredictable. I moved them to a customized marketplace theme and refreshed the look, leaving them with a site that's both more functional and easier to manage going forward.

How I Work as a BigCommerce Web Designer

I deliver design projects through Power Blocks — collaborative, four-hour Zoom sessions with a defined scope, a clear outcome, and a fixed cost agreed on before we start. No drawn-out timelines, no waiting weeks for updates.

Step 1: Discovery & Scoping

We start with a call to talk through your goals and your store. I’ll give you an honest assessment of what the project involves and how many Power Blocks it’s likely to take.

Step 2: Block Planning

I map the work into discrete Power Blocks, each with a defined scope and deliverable — so you know exactly what gets done and what it costs before we schedule anything.

Step 3: Design & Build Sessions

We work through the project block by block, live on Zoom together, so decisions happen in real time instead of over email. Every session ends with something tangible to review.

Step 4: Testing & Launch

Once the design process is complete, I test across desktop, tablet, and mobile before launch, then walk you through everything so you can manage your store confidently on your own.

Step 5: Post-Launch Support

Ongoing support plans and consulting are available after launch, or you can schedule additional Power Blocks for new features, refinements, or scaling up.

That depends on how well your current store is performing. If the structure is solid but needs refinement, customization is often enough. If the design feels outdated or is limiting growth, a redesign is usually the better option.
